On the 15th of September the Dutch SaltyBEATS team and SALTA brought together farmers, local communities, researchers, and policymakers for an inspiring stakeholder workshop on Texel Island
The workshop brought together farmers, local communities, researchers, and policymakers to address the pressing challenges of salinity in agriculture and biodiversity conservation.ย
Through dialogue and interactive sessions, participants worked on:
๐น Identifying local needs and priorities
๐น Fostering cross-sector collaboration
๐น Co-designing solutions to enhance both food production and ecosystem resilience
This initiative highlights the importance of participatory approaches โ building trust, strengthening networks, and co-creating pathways for climate adaptation and environmental sustainability.
We are grateful to everyone who joined us, shared their wisdom, and contributed to shaping a future where communities and nature thrive together. The outcomes of this workshop will guide future actions and inspire innovative solutions for Texel and beyond.

Celebrating World Food Day in The Hague with Collaboration, Dialogue, and Innovation!ย
The 16th of October, the SaltyBEATS Project hosted a vibrant stakeholder workshop in Den Haag to mark World Food Day 2025, in collaboration with the Netherlands Food Partnership (NFP) and Wageningen University & Research (WUR).
The event brought together a diverse mix of stakeholders โ from researchers, farmers, and policymakers to private sector representatives and civil society actors โ for an inspiring day of flash talks, interactive activities, and live surveys as part of our needs assessment study.
Together, we explored key challenges and opportunities for climate-resilient and saline agriculture, co-developing insights that will shape the next phase of the SaltyBEATS initiative.
Weโre deeply grateful to all participants for their time, ideas, and enthusiasm โ and to our partners at NFP and WUR for their invaluable support in making this dialogue possible.
The outcomes of this workshop will feed directly into our ongoing research and stakeholder engagement strategy โ ensuring that local needs, knowledge, and innovation drive our solutions for a more sustainable and resilient food future.
